Introduction

Welcome to my website!

I made this website to share the results of my academic research. Most of my work focuses on human-environment interactions in relation to socio-economic development and armed conflict. I was trained in the social sciences as well as in biology. In my research I usually combine methods from different fields, including ethnography, geospatial analysis, and ecology.

At the moment I work as an assistant professor at the School of Biology of IE University (Spain).

Thank you for your interest in my work.

This photograph was taken in Huehuetenango (Guatemala) in the early 20th century by Ulises Rojas, a Guatemalan botanist.
I investigated if the maize diversity that existed when little boy grew up still survived three generations later (see this publication).
